Hall Fletcher Concert

Last Friday we had a concert at our school. I put together this event in order to help raise money for our PTO. Our school has always gotten the short end of the stick here in Asheville. We serve a lot of impoverished families and have lots of minorities. Through the help of my friends and the support of the staff and administration, we put on quite a show. We had a kid's show that Vince Junior helped provide for free. I played along side the musicians and did some singing as well. It was a great night and we raised $1200 in just over two hours. Everyone was happy and so excited to see such a successful event take place at our school.

Of course Z was there to support her Daddy. What a ham! I mean, I know I'm a ham but this little girl is going top be something else. She was not afraid to get up in front of the band and sing and dance. And when I was trying to sing in to the mic, she was tugging to get some attention of her own. Here is Z partying down to one of her favorites from the show.

It's Been a Crazy Month

This March has been loco! We've had birthdays, parties, concerts and plenty of fun! The weather has gone from snowy and frigid to warm and spring like. We are all feeling much better about things now that the days are longer and the trees are blooming. It's one of the best times to be out and about and we have definitely been all over the place.

I had my 35th birthday recently. We had some friends over. Z was excited about the cake and ice cream. This month is especially rich with March birthdays. Several of our friends can claim March as their birth month and the cake and ice cream are flowing. Z has been gorging on the sweet stuff. She has even mastered the song perfectly!

I hope to write a few updates today and in the coming days so enjoy these pics and we'll have more soon.

In Memorium

Zahra, your great grandfather Leoncio Bravo died today.

What a guy. He was one of my heroes actually. He brought his family over from Cuba during a really rough time in that island's history. You'll learn all about it from Daddy someday. He worked hard and never really took a day off. He was a funny guy. He was always kidding around. I think that's where your dad got his constant joking from. He was also well liked by everyone in town. He seemed to know a million people.

I always respected Cheo (that's what everyone called him). He gave me my first job working the trucks with him. He taught me how to drive. He was a great driver. That's what he did his whole life until he retired. Once Cheo became homebound, he lost some of his spirit and it led to the eventual decline in health. During his final years, Abuelita took care of him like no other until the day he moved on from this Earth.

You met him once when you were really little. He really liked you a lot. In fact, you were one of the people he still remembered during his final days. He misses you already.
