We just wrapped up Easter with the first annual "Beer and Egg Hunt" in the backyard a.k.a The Beaster. We invited all of our friends to the event and had a great turnout . We had fun in the backyard with the little ones as they searched for eggs whiles us big kids searched for cerveza. It's the perfect marriage of fun for everyone!

Castillo de Seijezzali
Many of you may or may not know that Shannon has become quite the gardener. So much so that it has become her number one hobby and favorite thing to do. As the years have passed with us here together at the house, it has grown from a few pots, to some plots of land to the entire front yard. We have made some major renovations to the house all in the effort to create a large garden space for Shannon. Her ultimate dream of growing all of our food may turn out to be a reality one day. Check out the new and improved front lot!

A few more events I wanted to go more in depth in while we were visiting family and friends in Florida.
I can't believe that my boy Fred and I have two little girls. We grew up together and I never would have thought about being dads together.
Grandpa Florida really made Z's day with a gift barrage that rivaled Christmas. Thanks again!
Man I miss my family! It was so nice to see everyone and now it's back to being a three people family.

Spring Break 2011
The odyssey began April 6th when I took my annual trip to Washington DC with my fifth graders. We spent four days exploring the nation's capital while I was sick as a dog. It wasn't the best of trips in my condition but the kids and chaperones rallied and made it a trip to remember.
While I was away, Shannon and Z hung out with Grammy Lanie. I met the girls when I returned from DC in Atlanta. The next day we were off for Hialeah and a visit to abuelita's house. We made the long drive in one day and spent the next four having fun in the sun. Z and abuelita spent every waking moment together. In no time the two had become best buds. We spent a great day at the beach with the whole family. Just as we were getting settled in, we made our move to return to Asheville. This time we took our time making our way up, stopping along to visit Grandpa Florida (Shannon's father) and Uncle Chris. We stayed with friends in Coral Springs and then later in Jacksonville. We arrived this past Saturday to some cold mountain weather after lots of warm sunny days. It was a whirlwind tour and we were all relieved yet exhausted to get back.
Our girl had a great time connecting with family. I know I was glad to see my mom and brother and father and Pachy and my own abuela. I also spent a night out with the fellas which was very needed for my mental health. Shannon was sometimes frustrated with the trip but overall I think she had a fun time seeing her family, watching Z enjoy herself and hanging out with my friends. If it wasn't for the mini van we rented, I don't think we would have made the trip. Now it's back to the daily grind. But soon, I'll have news of some other interesting events here in Asheville that have us busy as bees.

April's here and...it's still freezing
It's been an even longer winter than last year. The longest since I've been here! We had some snow Friday morning! Come on Spring, what are you waiting for?
It's been an inconsistent month of March. And while I love it, it was super busy. Fortunately, things are looking like they will slow down. We have lots of cool plans to see family in the next few weeks so we are all looking forward to that.
Z continues to grow and grow. Her sentences keep getting longer and longer. She is really good at expressing her needs. She continues to dance up a storm and sing like a siren. She was rocking out to NIN last night! We've been sending her to a spanish speaking home for day care purposes once a week to try and get more Spanish in her vocabulary. Right now she can count to ten in espaƱol but that's about it. I continue to be a slacker so speaking more spanish is a must.
Hopefully we'll be seeing many of you soon!
