It's Father's Day and I can't be any happier. But it's not because of a gift (although Shannon did clean the care inside out and left it sparkling). This happiness began seven days ago.
Seven days ago, our daughter was still wearing diapers because we still hadn't begun potty training. Well, we had begun, we'd just failed. She was still pooping in her diaper and peeing uncontrollably. We were frustrated. We'd watched a video, read some stuff online, consulted with friends and even tried pull ups. But all of that was half thought out and not properly done. We decided to go cold turkey with diapers.
Now that I was off of school (finally), I could get to work. We started Tuesday and had several accidents. She did poop in the potty but the pee was the main culprit. Wednesday was better with only one accident, again pee. Then we had a few set backs and funny moments. I'll never forget her standing at the top of a piece of playground equipment and watching her pee from there. The stream of pee ran down her leg and about six feet below to the brown mulch. She stood there innocently, I was relieved that no one was around to witness it save for a few friends. I was constantly concerned about her pee schedule and thinking every action to its fullest. Should I drive home early because she hasn't peed yet? Should we go on that walk? How many times will I have her sit on the potty, have nothing happen and then watch as she pees on herself? It was a struggle.
Then something clicked. It was Saturday and Z had her first accident free day. She had already mastered the poo schedule. But today, she peed when needed. We risked a trip to the mall and exposed her to the kiddie playground. Hours had passed sine she had last relieved herself. I was beside myself with fear as she ran around with only her underpants and shorts to soak in what could potentially be a river of urine. As we made our way out of the mall, she still hadn't peed. Would she in the car seat? We made it to a restaurant dry as the desert and then I asked Z to follow me to the potty. She sat on the toilet and looked at me. Previously we'd failed with public toilets. She either wouldn't go or would yell about it. But today, she hear me pleas. I asked her to try and pee and then with a sparkle in her eyes, she let out a stream. The sound was like a symphony of rain falling on a pristine forest! I was jacked! The beginning of the end of diapers was about to happen!

It's About Time!
It's been way to long. Finally school is over and I have some time to breathe. The last six weeks have been insane but they are past. I will catch everyone up on stuff but for now, enjoy pictures of Z having fun at Splashville, hanging with her friends, getting a Spiderman tattoo at the comic book convention in Asheville and doing fun summer stuff with her mom.
