Shannon has been busy in her garden and around the property. I am about to wrap up the school year. Zahra has been growing and really coming into her own lately. She is stringing together some great sentences and we are having some pretty fun conversations. She is as strong willed as ever and can be a handful, especially when we are out and about and she wants something she can't have.
A few set backs though have been rather obnoxious to deal with. The potty training has gone completely batty. Z now almost exclusively poops in her diaper. She has gone backwards in this regard and we are a little tired. She will announce she has to go potty right after she has deposited some junk in her diaper. Hopefully with the summer about to get here, I can stay at home and get on this.
However we have moved past the screaming in the car! For years, literally since this child has first travelled in the car, she has screamed like a banshee in her car seat. We've tried games, sitting in the back with her, music; she just didn't like it. And because she doesn't give up (which is pretty great but not in this case) she would scream at the top of her lungs for the length of the car ride. No matter if it was a ten minutes drive to the grocery store or a four hour drive to Atlanta, she would yell the whole time. It got to the point where Shan was having nervous breakdowns every time she got out of the car. We finally caved in and just let her watch DVDs in the car. And you know what? She just sits there and watches. She'll talk to Dora or gasp at an exciting part of the Princess video but she wont scream. Just another one of those moments in parenthood where you break down from a core value you thought you'd never break (watching TV for long periods of time).
