New Year Catch up

As we take advantage of the MLK weekend to hang out in Atlanta, I will catch up with the news.

Z is doing great. We have recently switched her bed into our bedroom to improve everyone's sleep and it's worked nicely. She'd been having horrible nightmares and kept waking up in the middle of the night and had a hard time getting back to bed. It made for long nights and longer days of no sleep. Shan made the switch and it's worked like a charm. It's a bit of an old school solution since communal sleeping had been a common practice for human beings for millennia until we got big homes with lots of rooms. We've noticed a major change in our daughter as she's well rested, in such a better mood and just sharper in general. We really have a full fledged kid on our hands. We've also seemed to have moved past the wretched car rides of doom as she no longer goes into her rabid screaming modes. Conversation is great and we can sustain some really interesting, long exchanges.

As a family we are expecting some changes as we explore the possibility of buying some land and building a dream home. It's a dream that's slowly becoming a reality. Shan is entering her final semester in school and is a few months away from a Master's degree in Geography. I'm entering the second half of the school year with my kids. So far 2012 has been good to our family and we are happy to be in great shape.
