Queen of Condtions

Mastitis.  Ever heard of it?  Well, Shannon's got it and it ain't pretty.

We went to check on shannon after a mild scare last night.  She was running a fever of about 100.2 and was feeling awful.  She was shivering and was lethargic and miserable.  I handled baby chores for a while last night while Shan rested.  I almost took the day off.  Instead, we decided to go in to New Dawn and have someone give us some help.

I left work early today and snagged Shan and the baby.  We were told to pick up some more meds and to use some pro biotics to help with the infection.  We ran around for a good couple of hours trying to find the meds at the various pharmacies in town.  While Asheville doesn't boast much traffic, the rain pouring and the particular time we were out actually made for annoying travel around town.  And it was compounded by our daughter's shrill cries in the car seat.  The funny thing is, Z will stay calm when the car is moving.  It's when we stop that she starts to go off.  So I would drop off Shannon at a place and then circle around the parking lot to keep her from losing her cool.  With the rain and the car seat, it was easier to drive around than to unload and reload, especially when we had to hit four different places!

We are finally home and ready to relax!  I can probably fall asleep now and not wake up until morning but that is not going to happen (for a long time I've heard).  In the meantime, I am glad that Shan is feeling better and hopefully these medications will help her out.  I never thought my wife would be swapping the pains of pregnancy for the pains of breast feeding.  We'd heard the stories and were as prepared as we thought we'd be.  Our early success has also made this more painful.  Let's see how things go and we'll keep you posted.
